Dental Implant in Ahmedabad

Dental implant is a procedure whereby a metal fixture is placed into the jawbone (this is usually a screw), and this implant acts as a support or anchor for a new false tooth, or set of teeth.

What’s an implant?

An implant is a manufactured replacement for the root of a tooth. Usually made of titanium and looking a little like a screw, the implant is surgically positioned in the jaw bone. A crown is then attached to the top of the implant to fill the gap of the missing tooth.

How is an implant fitted?

A series of scans are taken by your dentist to aid in positioning the implant and to ensure you have plenty of healthy bone structure. If the bone is diseased or missing, there is still a possibility of a bone graft in order to make an implant viable.
The titanium implant is surgically placed in the bone of your jaw where a tooth once was. It is then left for between two and six months so the bone can grow around the implant. During this time you may wear a temporary crown.
Once the implant is securely fused to the bone, the temporary crown is removed and a permanent crown is either cemented or screwed into place.
If you are missing all of your teeth and wear a full denture, it is still possible to use dental implants to restore your smile. A full arch of natural-looking teeth can be held in place on as little as four implants. These fit snugly to help make it feel comfortable and eliminate the need for daily removal and cleaning.

What are the advantages of an implant?

Implants create the most natural and life-like solution to a missing tooth. The result is virtually indistinguishable from your other teeth and in a very short space of time, it will likely feel completely normal.
Other solutions for replacing missing teeth – either a bridge or dentures – are not as long-lasting or natural-looking. Implants allow you to eat, speak and maintain an oral health regimen as if you had never lost a tooth in the first place.

Am I a suitable candidate for implants?

WThe only requirements to have a dental implant fitted is that you are in good health, possess a healthy jawbone and have no gum disease. The success rate of dental implants is very high.
A factor that can impact on the success of the procedure is the presence of gum disease or tooth decay. These need to be fully treated before even thinking about implants. Smoking needs to be stopped well before treatment and ideally after the implants are fitted. Smoking reduces healing capacity and can cause complications at the integration point of the implant, not to mention its other effects on general health.
Some medical conditions and the medication required to treat them can also have an adverse effect on implants. These include diabetes, cancer and gastric reflux.
It’s important to fully discuss your medical history with your dentist in the planning stages of the implant procedure.

Maintaining dental implants

One of the biggest advantages of dental implants is that they require no special after-care; simply brush, floss and visit your dentist as normal. Good oral hygiene, healthy gums and a twice yearly check-up are your implant’s best friends.

How long do implants last?

With proper oral hygiene, you can expect dental implants to last around 20 years. However, it’s entirely possible for them to last a lifetime.

Root Canal Treatments in Ahmedabad

Root Canal Treatment is a dental procedure used to save a tooth with a nerve that is diseased. This procedure allows a tooth to remain in the mouth whilst having its nerve removed.

https://i0.wp.com/www.ahmedabadorthodental.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/root-canal-treatments-in-ahmedabad.jpg

Every tooth has a central nerve and blood supply – known as the pulp -which connects to your jaw bone. If the pulp, which provides nutrients to the tooth becomes damaged or diseased the pulp tissue can die.

Pulp damage can be caused by following factors:

Decay (most common) – if you have a hole in your tooth which is deep enough to reach the nerve.

Infection – of the surrounding gum and bone leading to infection/damage of the pulp.

Broken tooth – which exposes the nerve. This usually follows trauma such as a sports injury or breaking a filling.

If the damaged pulp is not removed your tooth may get infection. This can lead to symptoms such as sore to touching or biting or sensitivity to hot/cold and sweet stimuli. Usually the pain is of a dull throbbing nature which continuously gets worse. Left untreated, this may lead to loss of the tooth.

When a tooth is infected a root canal treatment is the only way to save the tooth (expect for extraction).

A root canal treatment usually compromises of 3 stages:

Stage 1: Removing the nerve from the root canal of the tooth. Often this is done when the patient is already in pain.

Stage 2: Main objective is to file and shape the root canals where the nerve/pulp tissue once occupied. The purpose of this is to remove all bacteria from inside the tooth effectively making the tooth bacteria free and also reshape the root canal system so they can be properly filled.

Stage 3: After preparing the canals, the root canal system is sealed with a rubber based material which prevents bacteria from reinfecting the tooth.

In most cases, a root canal tooth will require a crown. This is usually because the tooth becomes quite weak and can fracture easily. Another common side effect of Root Canal Treatment is discoloration of the tooth which can be easily treated with a crown (cap over the tooth).

Root Canal Treaments

Root Canal entTreatm is a sequence of treatment for the pulp of a tooth which results in the elimination of infection and protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion. This set of procedures is commonly referred to as a “root canal.

Root canals and their associated pulp chamber are the physical hollows within a tooth that are naturally inhabited by nerve tissue, blood vessels and other cellular entities.

The procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleaning and disinfecting it and then filling and sealing it. The common causes affecting the pulp are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma. The term “root canal” comes from cleaning of the canals inside the tooth’s root
